About Us Latest News Pyramid Pyro Roller Derby Videos To Appear On Public Access Television

Ventura roller derby videos will appear on public access television stations in Ventura County.

After five successful months of taping roller derby videos for the Ventura County Derby Darlins, Pyramid Pyro is helping the league take the next step in promoting this exciting sport.  Individual roller derby bouts will be shown on public access TV across the county on June 1, 2011.

Since January of 2011, Pyramid Pyro has evolved to the status of sponsor for the Ventura County Derby Darlins roller derby league.  Each bout in Ventura, mostly double-headers against teams from the Southern California area, was video taped and edited to showcase what a roller derby bout is like from beginning to end. Unlike the recent stream of documentaries available on the market the Pyramid Pyro roller derby video series focuses on the game and sport at a particular point in time.  They are truly for the roller derby enthusiast looking to watch a game from the safety of their own home.

The Pyramid Pyro roller derby video series is four discs deep at this point featuring seven individual bouts. Each video was shot at the Ventura County Fairgrounds where the Ventura County Derby Darlins host bouts.  The editing process involves two cameras and the action is concentrated due to the removal of time-outs and down-time during the bout.  Scores have been added between each roller derby jam to track bout progress until the winner is determined.  Overall, it is a polish product that allows viewers the opportunity to experience the details of a roller derby bout.

Representatives from the teams that are local to each public access station completed a review and submission process to get these roller derby bouts on-air.  The public access network in Thousand Oaks will most likely be the first to debut these roller derby videos starting in June, with Camarillo's public access station following close behind.  Ventura's city channel will round out the County later in the summer.  Unfortunately, Oxnard does not have a station at this time.
