Backyard Theater Articles and Videos Montecito Backyard Movie Party

A request came in to take the outdoor movie screen to Montecito, CA (Santa Barbara County) for a backyard movie party.  It was a birthday party coupled with the fact that some relatives were vistiting from out of state. Since it was a Friday event, the truck was loaded late in the afternoon to make the trip up the 101 from Camarillo to avoid traffic.

The house was beautiful and the backyard was ideal for an outdoor movie party.  The grass area was spacious and flat with a power source near by and a bench to anchor the screen to.  A side gate allowed for unloading of the equipment that wouldn't intrude on the festivities, but required taking everything down a flight of steps which called for special attention.

Backyard movie party in Montecito, CA

Montecito, in Santa Barbara County, is right on the coast so we had a cool night.  Fortunately, no breeze from the ocean rolled in.  All the equipment was set up well before dark so it seemed like forever for the sun to completely set.  After the custom calibration video and a quick cartoon, the main feature started for the movie party.

"With family visiting from out of town, I wanted to share a memorable summer evening with an outdoor movie in our backyard.  They provided the perfect set up, with a beautiful large screen and wonderful equipment.  He truly enhanced our experience with his quick, efficient, seamless set up and production.  I highly recommend using Pyramid Pyro for an enchanting evening."

Everyone loved the backyard movie party idea and had a good time.  We lost one adult early to prepare for a flight departing very early in the morning.  Things wrapped early as the younger members of the audience wouldn't be able to stay up for a second showing.  All in all, a great night...

Outdoor Movie Party Tips

When setting up for your backyard movie parties, have everything done before dark even though it may be "too early" based on guest arrival.  Obviously, working in the light makes things easier.  Also make sure to bring plenty of lights for the tear down process.  I had to use my projector to cast enough light to see what I was doing when everything was ready to be taken down.  The next day I invested in some little flood lights which should help things greatly for future outdoor movie parties.
